Putting the spotlight on grounds management – the career that makes sport possible

The grounds management sector isn’t attracting enough new talent. With rising demand for pitches and an ageing existing workforce, the Grounds Management Association (the membership body representing grounds management professionals) is predicting a serious skills shortfall.

Jack & Grace is working with the GMA to raise the profile of the profession and encourage new talent to join the sector.

Alongside a retained comms service which includes PR, social media management and web content creation, Jack & Grace also helps deliver #GroundsWeek – an integrated annual campaign to celebrate the people behind the scenes who make playing surfaces and green spaces look and perform their best.

Designed to create momentum and encourage younger people and women to consider a career in grounds management, last year our #GroundsWeek campaign saw us:

  • Develop a range of resources – imagery, guides, advice, case studies – and get them into the hands of potential recruits
  • Leverage the obsession that BBC Radio 1’s Greg James has with cricket grounds to land great PR coverage and create engaging social content. We also worked with a host of sport micro-influencers to reach beyond already engaged audiences.

Through the mix of channels and tactics – digital, search, PR, social and influencer marketing – we secured 37 pieces of coverage including The Times and BBC Tailenders and drove a 143% increase in google searches compared with the previous year’s campaign.

This year #GroundsWeek takes place 17 – 23rd March.

  • Three secondary school aged boys wearing their school uniform standing on a grass pitch in a sports stadium. One boy is holding equipment to try his hand at grounds management, under the supervision of an adult who is explaining something to him.
